Excerpt from Kodak and Kodak´s Supplies, 1914 Simpler cameras, simpler processes have followed each other with almost startling rapidity. But the Kodak Company has not been satisfied with merely making mechanical and chemical improvements; it has assumed the responsibility of educating people in picture taking. The very first Kodak, way back in 1888, was accompanied by a so called manual that did more than merely explain the operation of the mechanical features of the camera. It showed how the pictures should be taken, bow (and how not) to photograph a tall building, how to photograph a small child - told about the length of exposures in different kinds of light, both in-doors and out. It was really a primary hand-book of photography. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Fred Herzog
€ 38.00 *
ggf. zzgl. Versand

This book is an ode to Belgium´s traditional cafés, to their landlords and -ladies, and to the regular customers who come there not only for a drink but also for some company. It is also a plea to handle the café heritage of Belgium with the greatest care. Because we haven been taking these little cafés for granted for too long now, they have become fragile, despite the fact that they are an important part of our social and cultural patrimony.

Cassina as seen by Karl
€ 95.00 *
ggf. zzgl. Versand

The distinguished Italian furniture manufacturing company Cassina invited Karl Lagerfeld to choose his favorite pieces of furniture for an unusual photographic mise-en-scène: ´´I had never ´worked´ on a project like this before. To visually reinterpret examples of perfect design is completely new for me, and therefore stimulating, exciting even.´´ Before Lagerfeld´s lens, iconic chairs, tables and chaise longues by Modernist legends such as Le Corbusier, Rietveld and Perriand condense to their absolute, abstract essence. In his inimitably sleek and sophisticated photographs, Lagerfeld reveals the form in Formalism. Here furniture is seen in an atypical, decontextualized mode of presentation, detached from its usual environment, isolated and dramatically lit like a sculpture. The result is a tenderly chosen compendium of twenty-one images that respects the artistic intentions of the designers while simultaneously creating a new aesthetic. Printed on Somerset Book Paper. 21 high-glossy photographs tipped-in by hand.

Polaroid SX-70
€ 65.00 *
ggf. zzgl. Versand

This book is a facsimile of an album of Eggleston´s Polaroids assembled by the photographer himself, and containing the only photos he made in this medium. Consisting of 56 images taken with the Polaroid SX-70 (the now cult camera produced between 1972 and 1981) and handmounted in a black leather album also produced by the company, Polaroid SX-70 is the first publication of Eggleston´s Polaroids. The gloriously mundane subjects of these photos-a Mississippi street sign, a telephone book, stacked crates of empty soda bottles-is familiar Eggleston territory, but fascinatingly all of these Polaroids were taken outdoors. They are rare records of Eggleston´s strolls or drives in and around Mississippi, complement the majority of his work made with color negative film or color slides, and show his ironic flair for photo-sequencing in book form.
